Did you know that although a woman may adopt her husbands name on marriage in Australia, unless she legally obtains a "Certificate of Name Change", the surname on her birth certificate is her true name unless altered legally on application. Many institutions, including transport authorities, the passport office and banks will generally accept a Registry-issued marriage certificate in order to change the bride's surname. You should clarify this with each of the institutions in advance as you may need to apply to your state Registry office for a Registry-issued marriage certificate. Generally the presentation certificate you receive from your Celebrant on the day you marry is not enough. : Let me help you celebrate the Naming of that special child or yourself, Email Me to discuss.
